Coffee Coolers for Summer Days

The sunshine is back! Finally! We had to wait too long but now it’s time to go for a walk in the park or have a picnic on the beach and get a real summer feeling!

What makes a sunny day even more perfect as it already is? Yes, you are right. A refreshing cold drink: a milkshake, iced cappuccino or coffee cooler.

In case you don’t fancy spending lots of money at your favourite coffee shop in town, why not make your own?

It’s quick and easy and all you need is a couple of ingredients. And you probably already have them at home.

We have discovered two delicious recipes you should definitely try:

Cold Coffee Nog

  • 4 eggs
  • 4 level tablespoon sugar
  • 1 pint milk (chilled)
  • 1 pint strong black coffee (chilled)
  • nutmeg (optional)

Beat the eggs and sugar together then whisk in the milk and coffee. Serve in a tall glass and top with a dusting of finely grated nutmeg. Makes 2 1/2 pints

For the ice-cream lovers among you, we suggest you try this one:

Frosted Black Coffee

  • 1/4 pint extra strong cold coffee
  • 2 tablespoons cracked ice
  • 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream

Pour the coffee into a cocktail shaker with the ice. Add the ice cream and shake vigorously. Pour into a tall glass and serve with a straw. Makes 1 drink

We added some milk because we love milky coffee 🙂

It is soooooooooooooo refreshing on a sunny day!

Now, enjoy the sunshine and your homemade coffee coolers!!

  1. Wow excellent. I have no idea what nutmeg is but I shall try the coffee cool nog later today as an alternative to my mid-afternoon coffee boost. Although I’m a bit unsure about uncooked eggs in my drink..! Many thanks x

  2. The coffee nog is great. I tried it and it is the perfect counterpart to egg nogg during Christmas season. So glad you posted this. Although the next time I will leave out the nutmeg. It’s just a tad too bitter for me…

  3. as it is getting really hot here in Germany now, I tried the frosted black coffee – was really good and refreshing!! I also added some milk and it tasted even better, even with lactose-free milk 🙂
    Coffee nog is next…
